Saab has explored the hatchback market with a series of three-door concepts over the past couple years, but with the 9-3 Sport-Hatch the GM division closes in on a future production model. Adapting cues from the 9-3X crossover coupe concept (namely the front clip), the Sport-Hatch makes a tasteful, modern wagon. Targeting essentially active Yuppies, this four-seater features a glass roof with integrated cargo anchors, powered tailgate with integrated bike-carrier, and additional underfloor storage. The "Sport" name is justified by a lively 2.0-liter/250-hp turbocharged engine with a Sentronic automatic transmission. Saab was not shy about its production intent, with the 9-3 Sport-Hatch expected to help expand the Saab line-up along with the 9-2 and a sport/utility vehicle.
