1979 Saab 900 Turbo Hatchback 4-Speed
This 1979 Saab 900 Turbo five-door hatchback was first delivered to Paradise Motors in Corte Madera, California, and it was purchased by its current owner from the original owner’s family in 2023. It shows 74k miles, and it has spent most of its time in California and Texas. The car is finished in Dorado Brown over red upholstery and is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 390mm alloy wheels, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and heated front bucket seats. This 900 Turbo is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner at no reserve with a window sticker, a removed blue California license plate, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a clean Texas title.
The car is finished in Dorado Brown (165B) with pinstriping, and it is said to have been repainted in the 1990s. Exterior features include a sunroof, twin side mirrors, and impact bumpers. Photos detailing the condition of the body are included in the gallery.
The 390mm alloy wheels are mounted with older 180/65 Michelin TRX tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at each corner. The brake fluid was changed in 2023. The power-assisted steering rack leaks.
The heated front bucket seats were reupholstered in red under current ownership. Interior appointments include an AM/FM/cassette stereo, a heated rear window, window cranks, rubber floor mats, and a privacy cover for the cargo area. The dashboard is cracked, the heater core has been bypassed, a vent in the cargo area is missing, and the air conditioning system does not work.
The padded steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 74k miles, a few of which were added under current ownership.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter SOHC inline-four was factory rated at 135 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque. The valve cover was replaced in 2023, and the seller tells us the most recent oil change was performed at that time.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
The window sticker lists initial delivery to Paradise Motors in Corte Madera, California, as well as factory equipment, colors, and a total price of $12,758.
The Texas title displays “Exempt” in the odometer reading section.
