Our Vägverket, the "RDW" has to check your car and in combination with the original registrationpapers you will have new dutch registration on you car.
The closest RDW station for you is Zoetermeer/Waddinxveen

Read a lot about it here

http://www.rdw.nl/NR/rdonlyres/19AEFF12 ... Engels.pdf

Roadtax depends on weight, where you live, what kind of fuel

Try:

http://www.autotrack.nl/static/ns_att_tax.htm

Left field is province, right field is weight of the car

Insurance can depend on value of the car, where you live, how old you are, how many years of accident free driving and of course the type of insurance you want: Third party, Third party, theft and damage or comprehensive.

Some insurances are reasonably cheap, others are downright expensive. But do not be fooled by the insurance rates. Some insurance companies include road side assistance in Holland some don't. Some only have road side assistance in Holland if you are comprehensively insured or if your car isn't older than X years.
Some offer roadside assistance abroad independant of how you are insured. Some offer roadside assistance abroad only if you are comprehencively insured or if your car isn't older than X years.

If you plan to go abroad a lot buy a travelinsurance WITH road side assistance called AHV= Automobilisten Hulp Verzekering

Not needed if you import the car as household goods

Hej Magnus!
A bit :offtopic: ..
What brings you to this small and crowded land? (really interested!)
Is it possible to switch places? () We want to move upthere if possible :!:
During our visits we already heard of a lot of different habits and enviromental things of the Swedes to us. Of course this is the same the other way around too..
Although I've heard your "skatt" has been raised recently, the roadtaxes (nowadays a holders-tax for the car-owner) are much higher (i guess about double-) here in "Nederländerna".
Also the fuelcosts are almost the highest of the world, in fact last week the news showed only Turkey seems to has more expensive fuel than we have.
In time, when you think about driving a lot of "mils" by car maybe it advisable to switch to LPG or like you say motorgas. This is sold with I guess most of the gasstations here. The diesel-rush has come to a stop. Biofuel and fordongas are hardly available.
Med vänlig hälsning,

Cornell

Thanx for the info guys.

sb153b the price on gasoline and the damn high tax is defintily something i am abit worried about. its totally insane to pay that much in roadtax as you pay there. It will cost me about E656/year in roadtax. Totally insane. The gasoline is very expencive here to but not as bad as there.

Magnus

Come on...

You'll earn that extra costs back in two months while drinking the Swedish standard ration of beer or spirits !

Hips!

Off topic

You are probably correct about that and also with the damn expencive food here. ! large beer 40-50cl on a restaurant here is about E4.40-5.40 so its a big difference. 8)

If you bring a car of 25+ years old, say a 95/96 or 99, then roadtax is 0,00
(I pay 4 x 0,00)

Very true. I really think the v4 is a cool car. Its got loads of charm and is pretty nice to drive. Fun with the "freewheel".

How much is the insurance there?. Depends on age location and so on just like here i guess.
