LPG in a c900 T16

Hi,

Sorry for not being able to read dutch - hope it`s OK to ask in english here as I realised that apparently there is quite a number of LPG powered SAABs in Holland including c900 and older models.

For quite some time I thought LPG is not suited for turbo engine applications and I had never seen/heard of a c900 turbo going on LPG. But it seems I just had not looked the right part of the world.

So, I would be very gratefull to learn experiences, suggestions, tips, hints etc. from people installed and/or used LPG in their c900 T16. Which kind of LPG systems are suitable, which work bad, which OK and which good? Is it so that only the direct injection like Vialle will perform OK on T16 engine? I`m thiking of a possibility to LPG one of my c900 - the `93 T16 Lucas. Would converting to T5 make any difference in the LPG context?

there are all kinds of people experimenting with LPG and turbo on this forum, but there are specialized workshops in Holland that can modify your car for you. Do you want to do it yourself? What is your goal? (fuel economy or maybe performance?) You can buy complete sets yourself.
There are basically 2 systems, one with evaporator and one with gasinjection. Both need no modification of your basic fuel systeem, direct ignition is not needed at all. The lastest is technically advanced and reduces chance of backfire to almost zero. When properly installed both systems should perform without any problem.

I would want an installation that +/- keeps the performance of stock T16 and at the same time delivers the fuel economy of LPG but I don`t really want to have all sorts of problems coming here and there. If there would be quite a reliable solution (recipe) for the T16, I`d be willing to hear. Can anyone point me to appropriate system? If possible, I`d be interested to do the installation myself.

Hi, I have an t16 with lpi. In mine case the driveability is much better on lpg then on gasoline.
It is an installation with lpg injectors. Called lpi.
